Configure a Video Wall to Fit Your Exact Specifications

Configuring a Video Wall for use in boardrooms and other meeting places.

A video wall can make a dramatic visual impact, but designing one isn't simply a matter of putting several TVs next to each other. The number of screens, their orientation, overall dimensions, and mounting configuration all need to work together.

Fortunately, modern configurable video wall mounting systems make it possible to design a system around the space and screens you actually have.

What is a Video Wall?

A video wall is a large visual display made by arranging multiple screens—such as TVs, LCD panels, or LED modules—so they work together as one big screen.

It can show:

  • One image or video across the entire wall
  • Different content on each screen
  • Dashboards, presentations, advertisements, or live camera feeds

Video walls are commonly used in control rooms, conference rooms, retail stores, airports, stadiums, and event spaces.

The configuration can range from a relatively simple two-by-two display to a much larger installation containing dozens of screens.

How Can I Customize a Video Wall?

The first step is to determine the physical configuration you want. The B-Tech Videowall Mount System (39–75 inch, Configurable) BT8340/B provides a flexible framework for building a video wall around your requirements.

Rather than starting with a predetermined configuration, you can work through several important variables.

1. Start With Screen Orientation

Do you want the displays mounted portrait or landscape? Landscape orientation is common for presentations, video, and traditional widescreen content. Portrait orientation can be useful for digital signage, advertising, information displays, and applications where vertical content is important.

2. Determine Screens Per Row

Next, decide how many screens you want across each row. For example, a three-screen-wide configuration creates a very different overall display from a six-screen-wide installation. The available wall space and desired aspect ratio should guide this decision.

3. Choose the Number of Rows

Determine how many screens you want stacked vertically. A two-row video wall may be appropriate for a conference room or retail environment, while a much taller configuration can create an impressive large-format display for a control room, event venue, or public space.

4. Select Your Screen Size

Finally, choose the size of the individual displays. The BT8340/B system accommodates screens from 39 to 75 inches, allowing you to create a video wall using relatively compact displays or much larger screens.

Remember that the size of each screen affects the overall dimensions of the finished video wall. Measure the available wall carefully before settling on a configuration.

Build the Wall Around Your Space

The advantage of a configurable mounting system is that you can approach the project from either direction: start with the screens you already own or design the screen configuration around the space available.

Once you've determined orientation, screens per row, number of rows, and screen size, you can create a video wall that fits your exact requirements rather than forcing your installation to conform to a standard layout.

For commercial AV installations, retail displays, control rooms, corporate environments, and event spaces, that flexibility can make the difference between a video wall that simply works and one that looks professionally designed.
